Columbia Heights, Washington, D.C. – The Committee to Recall Brianne Nadeau has released the following statement in light of Brianne Nadeau’s decision to hold a lobbyist-sponsored fundraiser in Chevy Chase, Maryland: “Tonight, Brianne will rub elbows with powerful lobbyists in one of the safest neighborhoods in America, Chevy Chase, Maryland, while furiously collecting big checks to fend off her own fed-up constituents. Meanwhile, in Ward-1, we continue to endure violent crime at rates unseen in decades thanks to Nadeau’s deeply misguided pro-criminal record. Instead of raising money from lobbyists looking to cash in a favor in Chevy Chase, Brianne should be in Columbia Heights, Adams Morgan, U Street, Mt. Pleasant, and other Ward-1 neighborhoods working around the clock to make our community safer. What does it say about a 10-year incumbent politician who flees not only the borders of the Ward she represents, but the entire city, to raise money from lobbyists? There is still one thing that cannot be found in the suburbs of Maryland tonight: The power of our vote. The people of Ward-1 deserve better, and our campaign is looking forward to putting that option on the ballot soon.” |
